What I did

Triple Thursday

Friday, May 28th, 2010

So occasionally I get these Thursdays where I am tripled booked. It doesn’t happen a lot but lately it seems like way too much. So last night I started off at T.G.I.Friday’s. It was Ladies Night and also Sex and the City themed. Blaire Kensington, Lisa Newcar, and I attended. I don’t think people expected to see us. Most of the people in the restaurant were there strictly to eat and drink. And there we were sitting at the bar. We made the most of it and enjoyed ourselves. Free food & drinks didn’t hurt either!!! Thanks Melv!

After, I made my way to Waltham for a bachelor party. I needed the money but kind of wish I never went. Totally embarrassing. First of all, it was in the center of Waltham which is total sketch and full of dumb dumbs. Made for an awkward walk from the parked car. Second, I had the understanding that the bachelorette was going to be there, along with family… aka family event. So I had all these cute jokes thought up. Instead I get there to find out that its only men, and I had nothing funny to say. And when I joked around with the bachelor about having a “past” with him – aka “ya slept with a drag queen” kinda thing – he didn’t get it and just sat there wondering where he knew me from. I had to step in and go “hunny, this is all a joke. I’m here to rag you hunny!”… totally lame. Lasted all of 5 mins and then I was out of there.

Finally I made my way back into the city where I performed at Jacques Cabaret. Very good turn out for a Thursday night. We had a couple bachelor/bachelorette parties and also a birthday. Good crowd, fun, and little drunk. However, we were low on performers so a couple of us did 5 numbers. And to had to that, the dressing room was 100 degrees, and I was sweating like no one’s business. Needless to say after performing, I desperately needed to shower.

I definitely enjoyed myself last night. It felt real good to get home nice and early and enjoy a cold shower and lay on the couch. I was also proud of myself for not having a drop of alcohol all night!!! Not only was I driving (which I’m very responsible for), but I need to learn not to drink while performing. I no longer need it to get over nerves!

Love you all,
Have a Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

Halloween.

Sunday, November 1st, 2009

Hope you all had a very Happy Halloween. My day started bright and early at 8am, where I found myself getting in drag for work. Staff was allowed to wear costumes, and I had been scheming to dress as my manager (who looks similar to a full blown drag queen herself). I looked awesome as always, and some of my co-workers actually confused me for being her. Lets hope I win the $100 contest.
Next I found myself taking the subway home in drag…. I got a ride to work, I didn’t really plan for after work… But it was Halloween, so I wasn’t as worried.

batmiztvah

Later in the evening. Blaire Kensington, Lisa Newcar, and I performed at a Bat Mitzvah celebration being held at the Taj Boston. It was something out of MTV’s “Sweet 16″ I swear to God. There were illuminated palm tree center pieces, dancefloor, DJ, lighting, open bar (for adults), flat screen tv scrolling pictures of the girl, and also a AIRBRUSH artist painting hats and t-shirts for all the kiddies. Never in my life have I wanted to be Jewish soooo bad. It was fun, despite being cut-off in the middle of my song… they were experiencing a time crunch and needed ample time for dancing around in a big circle. Oh well.

After leaving the party, we headed up to a crazy salon party on Newbury street. There “Liza” was bartending, giving us glasses of pure vodka. Poor girl was a mess. Quick drinks and then we were out the door and on our way to House of Blues for the Epic Halloween Party.

Any who, I’ll leave you with a photo I found of myself last night @ HOB.

BinkysMovingVan_edited-1

So today I moved most of my stuff out of Quincy and into storage. I’m staying with a friend for a few weeks until I can start a new lease on Nov. 1st. Until then I’ll be here, there and everywhere. (Mostly working.) But I will at least have internet so I can update!!! yay! :D

Lack of posts.

Friday, October 9th, 2009

Heyyy there. Sorry about the lack of posts in the past week. My roommate moved last weekend and took his wireless router. So rather than comfortably posting from my bed or couch, I’m laying on the floor next to the cable modem (oh yea no furniture either).

Anyways! Update on my life. Last weekend I performed up in NH @ the 313. Always fun to go out of state. Change of people, scenery… and also makes me feel like a celebrity…sort of. I’ve been doing some promo work for “Pam Ann: Live”. Pam comes to town this weekend, performing at the Colonial Theater on Saturday. I’m going to be there!! I can’t wait I’m soooo excited.

Other than that, I’ve been working at the restaurant. Staying up all night playing pointless facebook games, and trying not to kill myself. lol. I’m going to make an effort to post some more. In the meantime, help support my blog by clicking the sponsored google ads. Thanks!!!

Love, Abby

So I’m back from Jamaica Plain. I spent the last 2 weeks house/dog-sitting. Unfortunately during my stay, the dog was beyond ill and had to be put down. But none the less, I had a house and a few cats to watch. This house was cute in a “hippie-native-american” sort of way. Every inch of floor was covered in hand woven rugs, walls had rugs hung on them, art and ancient pieces from around the world decorated rooms, childrens arts and crafts adorned the rest of the undecorated spaces. It was pretty cool, but definitely not my style.

Along with this free spirit, carefree lifestyle, came NO INTERNET, NO CABLE-TV, and NO A/C. Well… I did manage to leech internet off a neighbor which entertained me during my stay and I found an A/C unit in the basement that managed to cool the bedroom.

All-in-all, it was an okay getaway. And I got paid too which isn’t so bad. But now I’m home in my nice CLEAN, air conditioned apartment! Weeee!

Sorry for the lack of posts. I’ve been housesitting a dog and 2 cats in Jamaica Plain, and the internet here has been kinda spotty. Speaking of the dog, the poor girl got put down today. I’m not a very good caretaker…

Wednesday night I went out to Jacques and ran into Raquel Blake and our friend Roger. We went to Venu and proceeded to get drunk. When I got home around 230 or so, I received a phone call from them saying they were picking me up at 4am to drive to P-Town. I was so drunk, I agreed and packed a bag and off we went. We arrived at P-Town at around 7am. We moped around town until 11:30am, where we sat down for lunch with Liza Lotts. He was happy to have us there, and told us we could get in drag with him and we could walk in the parade with the restaurant Way Downtown. (See photo above).

After the parade I met up with our Boston friends. Bounced from bar to bar to bar. Even took in a show at the Crown & Anchor! Mind you, I had not slept the night before and we had been walking around allll daaay. This guy was buying us drinks after drinks after drinks, needless to say, after the show I was so trashed!  We went to another bar where I proceeded to sing Poker Face live on stage. Managed to down a couple slices of pizza, before grabbing the car and leaving at god only knows what time.

Arriving home safe at 6:30am, I proceeded to plop myself into bed and finally catch up on some sleep!!!!!
